At SCIA, we see learning as a journey that begins with noticing the world around us and grows through curiosity, exploration, experimentation and understanding.
Our approach encourages learners to actively engage with ideas, investigate possibilities, learn from experience and use their understanding to create and innovate.
The SCIA Learning Journey
Observation
Notice the world around us.
Observation is the first step of learning at SCIA. Learning often begins with careful observation. Learners are encouraged to look closely, notice details, identify patterns and become aware of things that may otherwise go unnoticed. Learners are encouraged to carefully observe natural phenomena, scientific processes, patterns, activities, and real-life situations to develop awareness, attention, and scientific thinking.
Curiosity
Wonder, question and seek to know.
Observation can lead to curiosity. Curiosity is the driving force behind exploration and learning. SCIA encourages learners to ask questions, think independently, and seek explanations through inquiry and investigation. We believe curiosity inspires learners to ask "what", βwhyβ, βhowβ, "when", and "where".
Exploration
Investigate possibilities.
Curiosity leads learners to explore. They investigate concepts, ideas, examine different possibilities, gather information and discover relationships between things through activities, discussions, inquiry, and interaction. SCIA encourages learners to explore concepts beyond textbooks and discover through participation
Experimentation
Try, test, discover and learn from experience.
Learners are encouraged to experiment, test ideas, observe results and learn from both success and failure. They can modify their ideas and try again when necessary. Through hands-on activities, practical demonstrations, scientific investigations, and experiential learning experiences, learners develop practical understanding and conceptual clarity.
Understanding
Connect ideas and make meaning.
SCIA focuses on meaningful, conceptual understanding and knowledge construction rather than memorization-based learning. Through observation, exploration, experimentation, and discussion, learners develop deeper understanding of concepts and their real-life applications. Learners connect new experiences with existing knowledge, reflect on what they discover and develop deeper conceptual understanding.
Creation
Apply knowledge and create.
Understanding becomes meaningful when it can be used. Learners are encouraged to apply their knowledge, solve problems, design, build, create and express their ideas in different ways.
Innovation
Improve, imagine and create new possibilities.
Innovation is the outcome of curiosity, understanding, creativity, and exploration. SCIA inspires learners to think innovatively, solve problems creatively, and explore new possibilities through scientific inquiry and experiential learning. Innovation-oriented education at SCIA encourages learners to generate new ideas, develop creative solutions, think independently and become innovative and responsible learners.
Learning as a Continuous Journey
The learning process does not always follow a straight line.
A new observation can create a new question. A failed experiment can lead to a different exploration. A new understanding can inspire a new creation.
Thus, the journey can continue again and again:
Observe β Wonder β Explore β Experiment β Understand β Create β Innovate
At SCIA, we aim to create learning experiences where this cycle becomes a natural part of learning.
Our Approach in One Thought
We encourage learners to observe deeply, question freely, explore openly, experiment confidently, understand meaningfully, create creatively and innovate thoughtfully.
